This tool creates a live countdown to any date and time, with a shareable link you can send to your team so everyone sees the same clock.
Useful for launch deadlines, sprint ends, project milestones, the last day before a long weekend, or anything else where everyone needs to feel the same gentle time pressure.
How the shareable link works
The event name, date, and time are encoded directly into the URL as query parameters. No data is stored on our servers. When someone opens the link, their browser reads the parameters and starts the countdown. It works as long as the URL is intact.
How it's worked out
- It subtracts the time now from the date and time you set.
- It splits what is left into days, hours, minutes and seconds, and updates every second.
- The date and time are read in your own time zone. A shared link carries the date and time, so each person sees it in theirs.
If it is 14:30 and you count down to 17:00 the same day, there are 2 hours and 30 minutes left, shown as 0 days, 2 hours, 30 minutes and 0 seconds.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the time zone. The countdown is for your device's time, so someone elsewhere will see a different time left.
- Setting the time as a different time than you meant, like 12:00 am when you meant midday.
- Leaving out the time, so it counts down to the start of the day.
Questions
Is the countdown in my local time?
Yes. The target date and time are treated as local time in whatever timezone the browser is set to. If you share the link with someone in a different timezone, they will see the same target time, but their browser will display it relative to their local clock.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The display switches to a "done" message with the event name if you set one. There is no alarm or notification, just a quiet acknowledgment that the moment has arrived.
Can I send the countdown to someone?
Yes. Use the share link to copy a link with your date and time in it. Anyone who opens it sees the same countdown, in their own local time.
