This tool calculates your exact age from your date of birth, broken down into years, months, days, weeks, total hours, and an estimated heartbeat count.
Knowing you are 34 years old is fine. Knowing you are 12,410 days old, or that your heart has beaten roughly 1.3 billion times, hits differently. Equally, it is a useful reminder that time is passing, which is either motivating or mildly unsettling depending on the day.
How we work it out
The years, months and days breakdown uses calendar arithmetic: a month is counted when the same day of the month comes round again, and in a shorter month we use its last day, so someone born on 31 January is one month old on 28 February. Total days and weeks count whole calendar days from your birth date to today. Total hours run from the start of your birth date to now. Heartbeats are estimated at 70 beats per minute, which is the widely used average for adults at rest.
How it's worked out
- Years, months and days count from your birth date to today by calendar months. A month is counted when the same day of the month comes round again, and in a shorter month the last day is used.
- Total days are the whole calendar days from your birth date to today. Weeks are those days divided by 7, rounded down.
- Heartbeats are an estimate at 70 beats a minute, the usual average for an adult at rest.

The total days and hours are accurate to the current moment. The years, months, and days breakdown is accurate to the current calendar date. If you were born at a specific time of day, the hours figure will be slightly off until we know your exact birth time, which we do not ask for.
